Thanksgiving Break

So Thanksgiving break is coming up in two weeks and most people are planning on doing something special. For me this is no different. Since my family does not live anywhere around here my Uncle in St George invited me to come down and celebrate Thanksgiving with his family. After a little research I found that the cheapest way to get down their is through the Igogreen shuttle. Using it a person can travel to st George for only 45 dollars each way. That is the best deal I could find. The other option for me is to drive my car. This is not a bad option, with the price of gas today it would only cost me about 25 dollars in gas to drive down and 30 dollars to drive back. The average price of gas is a Little more expensive down their then up here in Provo.
That makes me remember a question that I have, when all the gas prices kept going up, all you would hear from anyone was, the evil oil companies. Well, if that were true then we only have the oil companies to bless for the price dropping back down to under two dollars. Now I don't know what pushed the price up to over four dollars but I doubt it was the oil companies wanting more money. If it were, gas would not have come back down so far. What, did the oil companies decided they have enough money and now they don't need it anymore. Of course not, so I want to know why the price went up in the first place.
Anyways, back to the original topic. So if I drive it will cost around 60 dollars in gas. The there is wear and tear on the car. My car costs around twenty thousand dollars and you hope to get two hundred thousand miles out of it so that is 10 cents per mile you spend to drive the car. So in wear and tear on the car it will cost my a little more then 50 dollars to drive to St. George and back. Total this equals 110 dollars expense to drive. With this information I choose to take the shuttle down to St. George.

  1. Ammon, it seems that you have forgotten to calculate the time factor into your calculations. The shuttle will most likely take quite a bit longer to get down to St. George, but on the flip side, you could spend all of those hours doing homework there and back, as opposed to the wasted time that would would be sucked up if you were driving. ;) lol
